Full disclosure: I know you have likely spent months (perhaps years) and countless hours of your blood, sweat, and tears planning your wedding day, and it should be perfect, for all of the work that you put into it. Trust me - my husband and I spent over a year planning our wedding day down to the last detail (like I said, I'm super detail oriented). And here's the thing - we had a phenomenal wedding day. We were surrounded by our incredible family and friends, and our officiant showed up, and we were each there (hello - that is kind of the most important part!), but things did go wrong. Our venue flipped the sides of our room on the seating chart so guests were given the wrong entrees; our gluten free small cake (that I could actually eat) was not brought to our room afterwards; and it poured rain, for our wedding day and for the two days preceding it, so there was not a chance of our wedding being outside like we had always imagined. But here's the thing - while frustrating, it really didn't matter in the larger scheme of things, and something like the rain is truly out of anyone's control. Yes, all of those little elements of our day were frustrating, but in the big picture, we had everything we wanted for our wedding day - each other, with our loved ones celebrating with us. And again, a legal officiant - that was super key. And you and your fiancee may just want it to be the two of you, and that is also a perfect wedding day. Like every day, there are going to be things that stress you out during your wedding, but if your person is waiting for you at the end of the aisle, and the people you want there, are with you, then your wedding day is truly perfect. And if the venue or another vendor messes up some things, don't be afraid to reach out to them personally post-event, provide feedback on what went well and what didn't, and ask for some money back. You don't know unless you ask.
